WEBSTER COUNTY EXTENSION SERVICES

Our Mission

Our mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families
The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension’s educational programs have statewide significance:

  • In schools through 4-H
  • In cities with efforts such as Master Gardeners and Urban Gardening
  • In rural areas by helping farmers with crop, conservation and financial information
  • In homes by providing food, nutrition, child development and financial literacy information
  • In the wild by working with residents to protect the environment
  • In the food service industry by providing information and training relating to safe food handling and preparation
Through county Extension offices, the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences helps Georgians become healthier, more productive, financially independent and environmentally responsible.

AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES

For more than 90 years, UGA Cooperative Extension has been the trusted source of education, innovation and information for Georgia’s agricultural industry. From the latest crop studies to the best land stewardship recommendations, we have the research-based information Georgia producers need.

4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society.  This mission is accomplished through “hands-on” learning experiences that focus on agricultural and environmental issues, agriculture awareness, leadership, communication skills, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship.
Webster County 4-H offers activities throughout the year. During the school year, the fun begins with club meetings at the elementary, middle, and high schools. Each class has its own monthly club meetings where the 4-H representative meets with the members at each school. We also meet after school with private and home schooled youth.
From showing an animal to summer camp, 4-H has activities all year. These include but are not limited to:
¨      Project Achievement
¨      Livestock Shows – hogs, lambs, goats, steers, heifers
¨      Horse Show and Horse School
¨      4-H Camp
¨      Judging Events – poultry and livestock
¨      Summer Classes
¨      State 4-H Council
¨      Community Service Projects
